With the 16th Instalment of #thhguruinterviews, we had the chance to ask Clint Ford a few questions!
Name: Clint Ford (clntfrd)
Where are you from?
Atlanta, Ga. Currently living in Nashville, TN
Who influences your style?
I take a lot of notes from a few mentors of mine, Ayo The Producer and Keyz of the Upperclassmen. They’ve been like big brothers from the start. I also take note of Chauncey Hollis’ production as well. (Hit-Boy) He’s literally worked with everyone and manages to be different and versatile. My favorite photographer right now is Gotham (@itsforgotham). He’s been pretty influential towards my photography if anything.
Do you prefer a particular art form?
I love photography and music. I don’t prefer one over the other. It makes sense that people tend to come to me more for production though, since I started making music way before I picked up a camera.
What are new challenges when you step in the studio?
Making others comfortable is one of the main things that I try to accomplish when working with others in the studio. I believe that when creatives are in a state of comfort, then that’s when they create and express the best.
Top three music influencers?
Hit-Boy, Ayo and Keyz, and J Dilla.
I’d love to be affiliated with any production that Kanye West is on. One of my favorites that he actually produced is “Comfortable” by Lil Wayne. Hit-Boy is another great producer that I’d love to work with.
What can we expect next?
You can always expect work from Louis IV and I. I’ve been working with several other artists lately, like Lexii Alijai and a group of creatives called “three dollas”. I’ve been working on a lot of collaborations with some very talented and well known producers too, but I won’t say too much on that. Neeko Crowe and I are also about to drop something very special in the near future, so be on the look out for that.
heck out Clint's latest collaborative production project 'Mood' with DJ Mike Nasty Below!
