50 Cent Released His Second Studio Album 'The Massacre' On This Day In 2005

17 years ago today, 50 Cent released his second studio album The Massacre.

Released by Shady Records, G-Unit Records, Aftermath Records and Interscope Records, The Massacre debuted at No. 1 on the US Billboard 200, selling 1.15 million copies in the first week.

The Massacre received generally positive reviews from music critics, receiving a Grammy Award nomination for Best Rap Album, but lost to Kanye West’s Late Registration at the 48th Grammy Awards.

In February 2020, The Massacre was certified 6x platinum for combined sales and album-equivalent units of 6 million copies in the United States. To date, the album has sold over 11 million copies worldwide.
